THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA

"She's worthless!" shouted Prince Reinhard to his mother and father, storming into the throne room with fury in his eyes.

The king and queen, however, were not startled or concerned. Instead, they were mostly bored by this. The first dozen times or so it had happened, of course, it had been a little bit troubling. By now however, it was just getting old.

The queen rolled her eyes. "What was wrong with this one?" she sighed.

Prince Reinhard sniffed haughtily. "Her breasts were not the same size."

The king and queen both looked at him for a very long minute in silence, while the rest of the court looked at him with something approaching disbelief. "Not... the same size?" asked the king, to make sure he heard right.

Prince Reinhard nodded. "One was larger than the other."

The whole throne room groaned and the king and queen sat back in their thrones, defeated. Outside the window the king could see the royal procession taking off hurriedly. They had all had high hopes for this princess, as she had passed all the prince's demanding standards that he had disqualified other princesses for, saying that they weren't real princesses. Prince Reinhard was determined to only marry a real princess.

Though really, he was determined not to marry at all.

This was the closest he had ever gotten to being intimate with one of the so called princesses that his parents had found for him, or really with any woman ever. This recent "princess" had managed to be a perfect lady all afternoon and had gotten him alone at one point during a walk in the garden when she had started to unlace her bodice and show him some of the things he would be allowed to access, if he was her husband.
